FRIDAY REMINDERS:
Friday for full day campers the camp day ends with a farm show starting promptly at 3:00PM. at the end of the show please check your campers out their their counselor and take some time exploring the farm together and visiting our farm store.
Tomorrow is going to be a fun day of color wars! Campers will compete in friendly group farm challenges throughout the day around the farm. What Pepper colors will come out on top? We will find out tomorrow.
Day 4 – Animal Science at Bowers Farm Camp 🐓🥚🐴
What an egg-citing day! Today, our campers became junior farmers and animal scientists as they discovered how amazing farm animals are and the important jobs they do every day. Through hands-on activities, campers explored, experimented, and learned while having plenty of fun!
Highlights
🥚 Farm-to-Table Cooking with Chef Dan
Campers collected fresh eggs from our hens before joining Chef Dan to cook up a tasty farm-fresh egg snack. They learned where eggs come from, why they're an important source of nutrition, and how food travels from the farm to our plates.
🐄 Animal Hoof Molds
Have you ever wondered what different animal footprints look like? Farmer in training campers created their own animal hoof molds, discovering how hooves help animals walk, run, and live comfortably on the farm. It was a fun way to compare the unique features of different farm animals.
🥚 Collecting and Washing Eggs
Campers stepped into the role of real farmers by collecting eggs from the chicken coop and carefully washing them. They learned why clean eggs are important for food safety and how farmers care for their flocks every day.
💥 Egg Drop STEM Challenge
It was time to put teamwork and creativity to the test! Working together, campers designed ways to protect an egg during an egg drop challenge. Through trial, error, and lots of cheering, they explored basic engineering, problem-solving, and the science of impact all while having a great time.
🐴 Learning the Parts of a Horse
Our young animal scientists also learned about the different parts of a horse and why each one is important. From ears and hooves to tails and manes, campers gained a greater appreciation for these gentle and hardworking farm animals.
Barnyard Buddies Adventures
Our Barnyard Buddies enjoyed another wonderful day exploring the farm at their own pace!
🐴 They spent time meeting our friendly ponies, learning how to safely greet and care for them while building confidence around animals.
🚜 Campers continued exploring the barns and farmyard, discovering new sights, sounds, and furry friends around every corner.
🌼 Through songs, stories, hands-on play, and sensory experiences, our preschool campers practiced observation skills, asked curious questions, and enjoyed the simple joy of connecting with nature and animals.
Learning Through Animal Science
Today's activities helped campers understand that caring for animals takes kindness, responsibility, and teamwork. From collecting eggs and learning about horses to solving STEM challenges and exploring the farm, every activity encouraged curiosity, confidence, and a love for agriculture.

Adventure Day at Bowers Farm Camp – Day 3 🌲🔥🐐
Today was all about adventure! Our full-day campers spent the day exploring one of Bowers Farm's best-kept secrets our very own Forest Adventure, tucked away in the heart of the farm.
Did you know Bowers Farm has its own forest? This magical space is the perfect outdoor classroom where campers can connect with nature, build confidence, and discover new skills. To make the adventure even more exciting, our friendly roaming goats stopped by to join in the fun!
Full-Day Camp Highlights
Our campers embraced the outdoors through hands-on activities that encouraged teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving.
🔥 Campfire Cooking with Chef Dan and Mr. Ryan
Nothing tastes better than food cooked over an open fire! Campers learned safe campfire cooking techniques while preparing hearty vegetable soup and delicious banana boats. Along the way, they discovered how cooking outdoors builds patience, cooperation, and practical life skills.
🪢 Low Ropes Team Challenges
Working together was the key to success as campers tackled a series of low ropes challenges. These activities encouraged communication, trust, leadership, and creative thinking while having lots of laughs along the way.
🏕️ Shelter Building
Using sticks, branches, and natural materials found in the forest, campers designed and built their own shelters. This activity sparked imagination while teaching basic outdoor survival skills, engineering concepts, and the importance of working as a team.
Barnyard Buddies Adventures
Our younger campers had an exciting day discovering the many wonders of the farm.
🚜 They explored the barns on foot, meeting the animals and learning about life on the farm.
🌱 A visit to the Master Garden introduced campers to growing vegetables, flowers, and the important role gardens play in feeding both people and pollinators.
📖 Story time encouraged imagination before campers created their own binoculars, inspiring them to become nature explorers on their next adventure.
🚜 The day wrapped up with a relaxing wagon ride through the farm and a special picnic lunch outdoors.
Learning Through Adventure
Today's adventures reminded us that the best learning happens outside. Whether building shelters, preparing food over a fire, exploring gardens, or discovering wildlife, campers developed confidence, curiosity, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

Farm Camp Day 2: Digging Into Soil Science!
Day 2 at Farm Camp was all about discovering the amazing world beneath our feet! Campers spent the day exploring soil science, pollinators, plants, and the many ways farmers work with nature to grow healthy crops and care for the land. From worms and bees to herbs and tea, campers got hands-on with some of agriculture's most important helpers.
Barnyard Buddies: Exploring with Our Five Senses
Our Barnyard Buddies started the day by creating their very own Five Senses Finders. These special tools helped campers become scientists as they explored the farm using sight, smell, touch, hearing, and even taste.
Armed with their finders, campers set off on a farm adventure to discover the many sights, sounds, textures, and smells that make a farm unique. They listened for animal sounds, searched for colorful plants and flowers, felt different textures around the farm, and observed the busy world around them.
The Buddies also enjoyed a wagon ride around the farm, giving them a chance to see fields, gardens, animals, and habitats from a new perspective. After a busy morning of exploring, campers gathered for a picnic lunch and shared some of their favorite discoveries from the day.
A Garden Full of Flavor Tea Time on the Farm
Our full-day campers spent part of the morning exploring the herb garden, where they discovered that some of the most useful plants on a farm are also some of the most fragrant!
Campers smelled, touched, and sampled a variety of herbs straight from the garden while learning how farmers grow specialty crops used in teas, seasonings, medicines, and wellness products. They learned that herbs begin as tiny seeds and require healthy soil, sunshine, water, and careful tending before they can be harvested.
One of the most popular activities of the day was our herbal tea tasting experience. Campers sampled a variety of herbal teas, including:

🌿 Nettle
🌿 Hibiscus
🌿 Chamomile
Campers became tea critics as they compared flavors, aromas, and colors while using their senses to describe each blend. faces went from yuck to yum as they discovered the delicious flavors that grow straight from the earth.
Be sure to ask your camper which tea was their favorite you might be surprised by their answer! Many campers discovered new flavors they had never tried before and found favorites they didn't expect.
After the tasting, campers created their own custom tea blends to take home. Through this activity, they learned that many products we enjoy every day begin with plants grown by farmers and gardeners. Every cup of tea starts with a seed, healthy soil, and the work of growers who carefully cultivate and harvest herbs.
Perhaps campers have already discovered the perfect evening wind-down tea to enjoy after a busy day at camp!
Pollinators, Birds, and Healthy Gardens
Today campers also explored the important connection between pollinators, birds, and healthy ecosystems.
Campers created birdhouses while learning how providing habitat helps support wildlife around farms and gardens. Birds play an important role in agriculture by helping control insect populations, dispersing seeds, and contributing to healthy ecosystems. Some birds, such as hummingbirds, are even pollinators themselves.
By creating birdhouses, campers learned that farms are more than places where food is grown they are homes for many different species that work together to support healthy environments.
Worms at Work
One of the most fascinating discoveries of the day happened at the worm bin!
Campers explored the science of composting and learned about the incredible work worms do underground. While worms may seem small, they are some of agriculture's most important helpers.
As worms break down food scraps and organic materials, they create nutrient-rich compost that helps improve soil health. Their tunnels also allow air and water to move through the soil, creating healthier growing conditions for plants.
Campers were amazed to learn that a healthy handful of soil contains millions of living organisms working together to support plant growth.
Buzzing About Bees
Our soil science day would not be complete without talking about one of agriculture's greatest superheroes the bee!
Campers learned about the critical role bees play in pollination and food production. Bees help transfer pollen between flowers, allowing many fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds to grow.
Did you know that approximately one out of every three bites of food we eat depends on pollinators?
From apples and blueberries to pumpkins, cucumbers, and watermelons, many of our favorite foods rely on bees and other pollinators. Campers discovered that protecting pollinator habitats helps support both local agriculture and food systems around the world.
Garden Kitchen with Chef Dan
In Garden Kitchen, campers rolled up their sleeves and got to work with Chef Dan making homemade pickles!
Campers learned how cucumbers grown on farms can be transformed into delicious pickles through simple food preservation techniques. Along the way, they discussed where cucumbers grow, how they are harvested, and the journey food takes from farm to table.
Food-based activities help campers connect agriculture directly to their daily lives while building confidence in the kitchen.
Soil: The Foundation of Agriculture
Throughout the day, campers discovered one of farming's biggest secrets: healthy soil is the foundation of everything that grows.
Whether learning about worms, bees, herbs, gardens, birds, or vegetables, campers saw how all parts of nature are connected. Healthy soil supports healthy plants. Healthy plants support pollinators and wildlife. Pollinators help farmers grow food. Together, they create the agricultural systems that feed communities around the world.
Day 2 was filled with curiosity, discovery, and plenty of hands-on learning. We can't wait to continue our farm adventures tomorrow as campers dig even deeper into the amazing world of agriculture!
Farm Camp Day 1: New Friends, Farm Fun, and Fresh Discoveries!
What a fantastic first day of Farm Camp! The farm was buzzing with excitement this morning as campers arrived ready to begin a week full of adventure, discovery, and hands-on agricultural learning. From meeting animals and exploring gardens to creating crafts and making new friends, Day 1 was filled with smiles, curiosity, and plenty of farm fun.
Barnyard Buddies: Learning Through Our 5 Senses
Our youngest campers, the Barnyard Buddies, had an exciting introduction to farm life today as they explored the farm using their five senses. The day began with campers creating their very own camp hats, helping them feel like official farm campers and preparing them for a week of outdoor adventures.

These important values will help guide campers throughout the week as they learn, grow, and work together.
As they visited animals around the farm, campers practiced using all five senses. They listened to animal sounds, observed unique colors and patterns, felt different textures, noticed farm smells, and learned how farmers use careful observation every day to care for animals. These experiences help young children develop important science and observation skills while building confidence around animals.
Campers also created a sheep wool project, giving them a chance to learn about where wool comes from and how farmers use animal products in everyday life. They enjoyed a farm-themed story, played a color matching game, explored our beautiful Master Garden, and took a wagon ride to see more of the farm. The day wrapped up with a picnic lunch under the pergola, where campers enjoyed eating outdoors while sharing stories from their morning adventures.
Rising Ranchers, Farm Camp, and FIT Campers Jump Into Action
Our Rising Ranchers, Farm Camp, and FIT campers started the morning gathered around the flagpole for welcome songs, introductions, and icebreaker activities. It didn't take long for new friendships to begin forming as campers worked together, laughed together, and prepared for a fun-filled week.
One of the most important lessons on a farm is learning responsibility, and our campers wasted no time getting started. The Purple Peppers and FIT campers took the lead during morning chores, helping care for animals and farm spaces. Through these activities, campers learned that farming requires teamwork, dedication, and daily care. Whether feeding animals, cleaning spaces, or helping around the farm, campers experienced firsthand what it means to contribute to a working farm community. Even the Rising Ranchers got to be farmers helping our sweeping the barn with the most adoreable little brooms.
Harvesting Creativity in Garden Kitchen
Our Garden Kitchen campers were introduced to the exciting connection between growing food and creating healthy meals. Before entering the kitchen, campers visited the garden to harvest fresh chard. This hands-on experience allowed them to see where food comes from and understand the work that goes into growing fresh vegetables.
Using the freshly harvested chard as inspiration, campers created self-portraits that combined art and agriculture in a fun and creative way. Activities like these help campers understand that food is more than something we eat it has a journey that begins in the soil and is nurtured by farmers every step of the way.
Exploring Every Corner of the Farm
One of the day's biggest adventures was our farm-wide scavenger hunt. Campers traveled throughout the property exploring different farm locations while searching for clues. Along the way, they collected letters that eventually helped them unlock and decode a secret farm phrase.
The scavenger hunt encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, observation skills, and exploration while helping campers become familiar with all the exciting places they will visit throughout the week. From animal areas and gardens to gathering spaces and trails, campers gained confidence navigating the farm and discovering all it has to offer.
A Camp Classic Returns
A favorite tradition returned today as campers created Horseshoe Confidence Craft. Horseshoes have long been associated with farms and agriculture, making them the perfect symbol for a week spent learning and growing. Through this activity, campers reflected on trying new things, building confidence, and embracing thier own unique personalities with a positive attitude.
Animal Encounters and Farm Connections
No first day at farm camp would be complete without plenty of time spent with our animal friends. Campers had opportunities to meet, pet, and learn about many of the animals that call the farm home. Through these experiences, they learned how farmers care for animals by providing proper food, shelter, clean water, and daily attention.
These interactions help campers build empathy, responsibility, and respect for animals while developing a deeper understanding of the important role livestock play in agriculture.
Our campers also enjoyed some special group adventures throughout the day. Black Sheep Chad joined the Red Peppers for a hike around the farm, giving campers another opportunity to explore nature and enjoy the outdoors. Meanwhile, the Yellow Peppers spent extra time in the chicken coop learning about poultry care, chicken behavior, and where eggs come from. Their enthusiasm and curiosity made for a memorable experience!
Growing Through Agriculture
One of the greatest things about farm camp is that learning happens naturally through every activity. Whether harvesting vegetables, caring for animals, solving scavenger hunt clues, or creating farm-inspired artwork, campers spent the day building valuable skills in science, agriculture, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving.
Most importantly, they spent the day making memories, forming friendships, and developing a deeper appreciation for the farms and farmers who help feed our communities.

🎨 Color Wars on Friday: Team spirit is encouraged! Campers are invited to wear as much of their group color as possible for our Color Wars celebration on Friday. We can't wait to see all the colorful creativity and team pride!
