Our Farm
Housed on 93 acres and owned by Bloomfield Hills Schools since 1967. Animals such as sheep, horses, cattle, and goats graze the pastures along with acres of vegetable production, community gardens, and curated horticultural gardens.
Our mission is to cultivate community through education and engagement with agriculture and the local food system.
The authenticity of a small-scale working farm connects students and the community to where their food comes from. Learning comes alive with meaning and purpose as we welcome every learner to discover and wonder in the world around them. Bowers School Farm has something to explore each season!

Thank you GMB volunteers for helping to install our backyard play zone during your Community Day today! Just in time for our Farm After Five kick off :) Please join us 5-8pm tonight for a little live music on the farm

Join us this Friday, June 13th from 5-8pm for the kickoff of our Farm After Five series!
Enjoy live music from The Bromancers—a dynamic duo of brothers-in-law, Justin and Matt, who’ve been making music together for over 15 years. With just a banjo, a guitar, and a whole lot of energy, they’ll bring a fun, feel-good vibe for all ages with some of your favorite songs.
As part of our Open Barn summer series, Farm After Five invites the community to connect with each other and the land that feeds us. Experience hands-on farm fun with animal interactions, wagon rides, and plenty of open space to relax and play. Seating may be limited - feel free to bring a chair or blanket for the grass. We hope to see you there!

As we wrap up a beautiful season of spring field trips, we’re filled with gratitude for the schools, students, and teachers who came out to learn, grow, and explore with us on the farm. Each visit was a reminder that learning doesn't just happen in a classroom; it happens in the dirt, in the garden beds, with the animals, and in the conversations we share outside under the sky.
We believe that learning is a year-round journey, and we're honored to be part of it! Whether it’s a first grader learning how to hold a chicken, a kindergartener planting a seed for the first time, or families coming together at our community programs.
Now we turn the page to summer and we’re ready to welcome new faces and familiar friends for camps and community programs filled with curiosity, connection, and good old-fashioned outdoor fun.
Thanks for learning with us!

Huge shoutout to the BHHS Sophomore Leadership Team for their amazing work at the farm!
They rolled up their sleeves and:
✅ Built a 3-bin compost system
🌼 Planted pollinators to support our ecosystem
🧹 Cleaned animal pens with care
💚 Wrapped it all up by feeding (and cuddling!) our baby goats
Thanks for bringing energy, teamwork, and fun!

Everything Harvest:

Tomatoes! They are one of my favorite things to grow. I think pruning and trellising is the most satisfying garden task. We’ll be talking all about technique and trellis building at this week’s gardening workshop. And we’ll touch on options for peppers, eggplants, peas, and cucumbers as well.
